ormesby newspapers COMPLETED
« on: Saturday 05 January 08 00:02 GMT (UK) »

Hello can anyone tell me what newspapers were around in ormesby in 1863.

I have just recieved a death certificate that says the inquest was hels in 1863 and would really like to see what happened as the only cause of death on the certificate is " Visitation of God"

Has anyone else had this on a certificate before.

Hi Karen,

See this site for Middlesbrough Reference Library, showing the local newspaper holdings:

http://www.tvcm.co.uk/teesonline/famhist/Reference%20resource%20page.html

You need to see them there as most are on microfilm, but if you email the library they may be able to look it up for you

Hi Karen, My Gt Gt Grandfather died in 1870 age 31. I have his death cert which also states "Visitation of God". I understand this term was used for no known cause and common to explain cot deaths. Hope this helps. Geoff

I looked at this site:

http://www.paul_smith.doctors.org.uk/ArchaicMedicalTerms.htm

probably means old age or natural causes
