According to their website the present church was consecrated in 1992. I can find nothing on the web to tell me anything about the old church bearing that name. What happened to it? Does anybody have any information about it please? And a picture would be even better Peter

Thanks for the links, Barbara. The picture of the church is of the new one and unfortunately the Genuki link doesn't really help. I've since found that the West Yorkshire Archives have quite a lot of the records of the old church. Peter

Thank you, Barbara I'm getting quite a long list of things that need to be looked up at the WYAS. I think a visit to Leeds is called for. Peter

Hi
Yes, my grandparents and Gt grandparents were married there in 1959 and 1932.
Sadly they are no longer with us. I do remember my dad bringing a brick home from "their" church after it was knocked down.
I will try find out more
Gav

Thanks for the reply, Gav. I did wonder whether or not I was presuming too much after I wrote my message. Peter

Annie ~ Dave
No, I don't know Gildersome, at all.
Thanks for the links. What I've been hoping to find is a picture of the old church, without any luck so far.
It looks like a Summer trip to Yorkshire becomes even more essential.

Peter, If you wish to visit the West Yorkshire Archives and Registry of Deeds for the Diocese of Wakefield (which includes Gildersome even though it is nearer Bradford) note that you need to book an appointment
email: wakefield@wyjs.org.uk. Web: www.archives.wyjs.org.uk.
Samueller.

Samueller. Apologies for the delay in replying. Thank you for that information (and the links) I'll make sure that I do that. Peter
