Could someone look up at the RO details from the Ault Hucknall PR for the marriage of John Saunders and Rebecca Brocksopp please? I found the IGI record of their marriage on 29 December 1817 in Ault Hucknall. They had a daughter Charlotte baptised in Ault Hucknall on 5 November 1820 (also from IGI).
IGI does not give the names of the fathers of John Saunders and Rebecca Brocksopp, no occupations nor where they resided at the time of marriage. The 1851 census has John Saunders and wife Rebecca plus children in Bolsover however I did not recognise (and could not decipher) the names of their places of birth. John Saunders seemed to be 'ODMIERS' and Rebecca was 'FURNISS' both in Derbyshire. Any help would be welcome.
thanks, marp

Hi
In the 1871 census John Saunders is aged 74 (wid)and living with son Thomas in Pilsley, Derby. John gives his birthplace as Standby, Derbyshire. If you haven't already got these details let me know.
There is a place called Furnace Vale which is near Whaley Bridge.

Hi Sunflower and Sisterjane,
Many thanks for these details which I did not have. John Saunders seems to change his birth place rather a lot! I have not got the census details and if they are near to hand for you I would appreciate the details. If not do not worry, now I know he was alive in 1861 and 71 I will track him down! Thanks again for your help.

Hi
I came across this MI which may belong to your family.
Ault Hucknall
Sacred to the memory of John Brocksopp who departed this life 1 sept 1839 aged 87 also Rhume his wife who died Oct 6 1817 aged 50.
I noticed that some of the MI's gave the parish of STAINSBY which may be the parish meant on the 1871 census .

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the information about John Saunders, you have been really helpful. I had the 1841 census and also the IGI dates of baptism for many of his children in Skegby by Manfield (except Charlotte baptised in Ault Hucknall). Your addtional census information has been great.
I wonder whether the MI could be for his parents?
All information much appreciated.

Hi again. I was particularly interested in the 1871 census as Elizabeth age 48 sister was mentioned. I presume that she is sister to Thomas head of household. What puzzles me is that she was married at the time and her name was Millns but this does not seem recorded on the census.
My gg grandmother was Elizabeth Saunders daughter of John Saunders and Rebecca Brocksopp baptised Skegby 27 May 1822.
Elizabeth married Joseph Millns ( an artisan miller) in North Wingfield on 20 June 1843 and they settled in Chesterfield after quite a bit of moving around.

Stainsby is only a couple of miles from Ault Hucknall so I reckon its Stainsby. Pilsley isnt that far away either. Di
