Help me find the Meads
« on: Sunday 11 May 08 11:25 BST (UK) »

Caroline Oliver (b. Southwark 1829) married clerk William Mead (b. Southwark  1823) on 2nd October 1849. They can be found on the 1851 census at 19 Princes Road Bermondsey together with son William J. Mead born 1850. (HO107/1560 f 263 p 18)

Can anyone help me find them after 1851?

I wondered if Wm senior had died, and Caroline remarried - had a quick look, but no instant 'fix'   Sad

Jumping to 1881, William J has married an Eliza ...

Following the same thought I found this:

RG9/328

William Mason
Caroline Mason, wife, 30, b Newington
William Mead, 10, son, b Bermondsey

..but I can't find the marriage at the moment.

Thanks Newfster I'll take a look at that 1881 reference.

And thanks Richard.  I can't find a marriage of Caroline Mead to William Mason either, and her birthplace is shown as Newington rather than St George's. It looks likely but I'm not quite convinced yet.

Can you see the Masons in 1871? The only likely family I found is at RG10/601 f 67 p11 Caroline Mason. But there are 3 more teenage children there... if that's the right family, where did they come from?
