Maggie Lord Lyon - schoolteacher
« on: Wednesday 09 January 08 10:58 GMT (UK) »

Hello searchers,

I have an interest in Maggie Lord Lyon, 37 yrs,
born about 1864  Aberdeen,

She  was living at Auldearn, and in the Census
is shown as a visitor at Moyness Schoolhouse

Occupation: School Board Teacher Elementary School

I would be grateful to know where I may find the documents
relating to the village school, and hopefully its staff and pupils.

If the building has survived, I would love to hear about that too

Hope it is not too much to ask
Jean M

According to the Highland Council Archive Guide (the website name is too long to quote - simply Google Moyness school )  the Log Book for the school survives and dates from 1917-1962. The latter date would suggest that it is now closed but perhaps someone living nearby could answer this question.

many thanks, your reply is much appreciated.

That link does look a promising place to start and
I see there are  others searching Auldearn ancestry
on this lively forum.

regards
