WALTER TOMB in LUDLOW
« on: Thursday 10 January 08 08:10 GMT (UK) »

Would anyone be able to give me the full monumental inscription of the tomb in Ludlow church for Edmund Walter (c.1518-92), Chief Justice of the Marches, and his two wives, Mary Oteley and Mary Hackluit?
Pictures of this tomb, with Edmund's children around its sides, once hung in the home of my great-great grandparents (according to an old letter), as it was claimed that they were descended from those interred beneath it.
I don't know how I would trace them forwards from the 16th-century (unless a local historian has already investigated the family), but if I can find who is buried there it might at least be a starting point.
I wrote to Shropshire R.O., but they replied that they had no record of it.
In hope,
Josh.
