Kia Ora Just recording that I am interested in making contact with any member of the OVERSTALL family who may be able to help me with information about the life & family of Marguerite Fairy Webb born 19 July 1905 West Bromwich and who died in the Registration District of Newton Abbot April 1987.
Marguerite seems to have married Mr Overstall at some time and moved to Devon.
At this stage I have no further information as I only learned of this connection overnight!
Grateful for any information!
Regards Marlene New Zealand

Aston Warwickshire 191 Wilton st Henry Webb head mar 28 weighing machine maker b Birmingham Jane Webb wife mar 23 b Aston Harry E Webb son 2m b Aston
This may be a possible marriage : Harry Webb same page : Jane Homer 1886, dec q West Bromwich

PS I think obtaining Marguerite's birth cert would be a good idea , just so as we can confirm her parent's names.

hi again
I have been trying to figure out were the 'Fairy' part of the name comes from ...No luck as yet ...
Henry/Harry Webb b 1863, father of Marguerite ( we hope )....this is his family;
1871: birmingham 129 Soho(??) Rd John Webb head mar 40 weigh machine maker b B'ham (IGI b 15 jan 1831, chr; 15 feb 1831 s/o Edward webb & Maria) Sarah wife mar 35 b B'ham HARRY son 8 b Birmingham...he seems to have followed his dad's occupation!
1861: John Webb head mar 30 weighing machine maker Sarah Wife 25 Elizabeth Tuffley w. mother wid 65 , b Middlesex, London
marriage: John Webb = Sarah Tuffley june q 1856
so no connection to the Fairy name there

hi Marlene ...
This is interesting ... and obviously needs to be verified that we have correct parents for Marguerite......
we have Marguerite Fairy Webb (1905) d/o Henry/Harry Elisha F Webb (b 1863, B'ham) s/o John Webb (1831 ) B'ham s/o Edward and Maria Webb.
It seems according to IGI that Edward and Maria had quite a few children born in B'ham.
but then I found this in 1841 Newton Abbot, Devon...Added this is where Marguerite ends up after marrying Mr . Overstall !! Strand, Royal Hotel Edward Webb 31 Hotel Keeper Maria Webb 31 Y Robert Webb 1 Y
I wonder if these are John's parents....ummm maybe I have the wrong people

Hi Cas ...this is driving me crazy .... Do you think these are our people ? It looks like it as we have followed them back from 1901 ...
So you can't see Elisha Fairy b 1863 in 1871 or 1881?

Nope, but still trying....
Think the birth cert is only answer....could match up with what you found, but why would a bloke call himself Fairy if not born with it???

Hi Cas
i have searched 1871 ... he's not there , also there are no deaths ...except for an Elisha Fairy in 1854 .
I agree with you re the Fairy name ...not such a macho one for a guy
In 1901...that's the only time he has his full name ...Harry Elisha F Webb . His son is named after him ...
Birth registrations for Marguerite Fairy Webb's siblings: Harry Elisha F Webb - mar q 1891 Aston warwickshireDaisy Fairy Webb - sept q 1892 Aston Philip Fairy Webb - Dec q 1894 Aston Ida Violet f webb - dec q 1900 aston deb added The Fairy name must come somewhere from the Webb side ... as marguerites dad Harry has the "F" in his name ...
