Burials Newton Abbot 1987??
« on: Sunday 13 January 08 10:55 GMT (UK) »

Kia Ora
Can someone advise me please?
I have a death of Marguerite Fairy Overstall in April 1987 Reg District Newton Abbot - no further details such as Reg No. to order a cert.

Is there a central place I could write to in order to find a place of burial and any further clues?

All I had previously was her birth in Handsworth so I am hoping to fill in about 81 years!

Very grateful for any help!

Marlene, the information from the death registration index gives the following information:-
death registration April quarter 1987, age 81 Date of birth 19 July 1905
The reference for ordering a certificate is
April quarter 1987 Newton Abbot Volume 21 page 1420.

There is no central place to find a burial- Newton Abbot Reg district is huge and covered by various local authorities who maintain public cemeteries, plus all the many churches who still have open grave yards.
Your best option will be to buy the certificate - this will give you an address at time of death. This may give a clue to the burial place, but no guaranteee as she may have specified where she wanted the funeral and subsequent burial or cremation to take place.
