Tuners live all over the place - so why not? He was a friend, he knew the lawyer, he worked next door, he worked for the lawyer - multitude of possible scenarios.

You might get a potential lead on Henry & Jane if you got a copy of the original entry in the Marriage Register. It's 1755 so you're just into Hardwicke's Marriage Act - Henry's occupation should be recorded, plus the names of two witnesses who could give you something to go on for possible family if they are also Norris or Godfrey. You'd also get Henry's signature if he could write - might be handy for comparison purposes later if you got any other documents e.g. copyholds etc.
If you got a copy of the Marriage Bond as well, it could give the name of the Bondsman/men, who might very well be family...

Morning Bramble, Would the marriage bond be from Oxfordshire RO? Not sure how/where to look for it. I have emailed Berks RO but nothing back yet. I have James Norris of Weston on the green's will. It feels a bit of a cheek just sending it to you. But I shall, just so's you don't get rusty again... Toni, I'm going through the list of Norris's to match them of census and early deaths. Hopefully someone 'isn't there This is first part of James Will. Other part tonight. Hi Lesanne,
Got the Will OK, I'll have the full transcript online for you today; the Marriage Bond should be at Oxfordshire R.O., and they should have the fiche of the Register as well.
Have a good day - BTW, have you access to e-mail at work? if you're dying to know who the beneficiaries are, e-mail me with your work e-mail address, and I'll send it over

oooh thats good, lots of people mentioned and places, will look into them in mroe detail but one thing that strikes me is in the first section he mentions his sister [u]Mrs /u] Elizabeth Norrys why is she listed as Mrs, i assume she is married but then she has the same surname as her brother and therefore her maiden name did she keep her name after she married or did she marry a cousin also of the name of Norrys ? unlikely she kept her name after she married, did they do that back then if they were of families of wealth?
