Tuners live all over the place - so why not?  He was a friend, he knew the lawyer, he worked next door, he worked for the lawyer - multitude of possible scenarios.

You might get a potential lead on Henry & Jane if you got a copy of the original entry in the Marriage Register. It's 1755 so you're just into Hardwicke's Marriage Act - Henry's occupation should be recorded, plus the names of two witnesses who could give you something to go on for possible family if they are also Norris or Godfrey. You'd also get Henry's signature if he could write - might be handy for comparison purposes later if you got any other documents e.g. copyholds etc.

If you got a copy of the Marriage Bond as well, it could give the name of the Bondsman/men, who might very well be family...

 Cheesy Morning Bramble,
Would the marriage bond be from Oxfordshire RO? Not sure how/where to look for it.
I have emailed Berks RO but nothing back yet.

I have James Norris of Weston on the green's will. It feels a bit of a cheek just sending it to you.
But I shall, just so's you don't get rusty again...  Grin  Grin

  Cheesy Toni, I'm going through the list of Norris's to match them of census and early deaths. Hopefully someone 'isn't there  Huh

This is first part of James Will. Other part tonight.

i've lost track now are we back to the Norris?, i didn't contribute much to part 1 & 2 so i don't know what to look for.  Undecided

what did you think of those possible Robert Norris births?
that is from the fullBMD
1866-1869

thinking that Robert was possible his middle name there are these births in the same period but, i think they are too close to Georges' birth and Joseph (below) is the wrong area entirely.

NORRIS George R       Islington.1b   323   Q1   1866

NORRIS Thomas R       Blean.2a   675   Q1   1866

and then there were these male Norris births again fromt eh same period:~

NORRIS Male       Alverstoke.2b   463   Q2   1866

NORRIS Male       Lambeth.1d   305   Q4   1866

NORRIS Male       Hollingbourne.2a   581   Q3   1867

NORRIS Male       Lambeth.1d   451   Q3   1867

NORRIS Male       Bolton.8c   401   Q1   1868

NORRIS Male       Bolton.8c   399   Q1   1868

NORRIS Male       Woburn.3b   394   Q1   1868

Hi Lesanne,

Got the Will OK, I'll have the full transcript online for you today; the Marriage Bond should be at Oxfordshire R.O., and they should have the fiche of the Register as well.

Have a good day - BTW, have you access to e-mail at work? if you're dying to know who the beneficiaries are, e-mail me with your work e-mail address, and I'll send it over  Smiley

 Cheesy Hi Toni,
Just off to work.  Undecided

This is one birth cert 1870 1q 1b 497 Hackney.
I got this, hoping that perhaps he was registered late.

Then I noticed 2 children with the same numbers. The Robert died  Cry

There is also a death in 1919 Eton.... This looked promising, but, someone else says this death is their Robert from 'up north'.....

Back later on. No weddings to sort tonight so hopefully a bit earlier.

this death is the right age,not sure if its the right place!

NORRIS Robert Henry  41  Nuneaton.6d  225  Q2  1910

what makes you think Robert Norris  died pre 1920?

there are these two that are the right age also:~

NORRIS Robert Owen  33  Bethnal Green.1c  171  Q1  1902

NORRIS Robert Thomas  36  West Derby.8b  373  Q1  1904

(perhaps one of these belongs to the lady from 'up north')

~~~~~~~~~~
some of the births i posted earlier died as infants  Cry so you can rule them out too:~
NORRIS Robert  0  Bristol.6a  8  Q3  1866
NORRIS Robert  0  Pancras.1b  27  Q3  1866
NORRIS Robert  0  Bolton.8c  223  Q2  1868
NORRIS Robert  0  Leigh.8c  162  Q3  1868
NORRIS Robert Alexander  2  Teesdale.10a  131  Q4  1867
NORRIS Robert G  2  Whitechapel.1c  368  Q2  1866
oooh thats good, lots of people mentioned and places, will look into them in mroe detail but
one thing that strikes me is in the first section he mentions his sister [u]Mrs /u] Elizabeth Norrys
why is she listed as Mrs, i assume she is married but then she has the same surname as her brother and therefore her maiden name Huh
did she keep her name after she married or did she marry a cousin also of the name of Norrys ?
unlikely she kept her name after she married, did they do that back then if they were of families of wealth?
