Just wondered if anyone can help me. I know my grandad Clarence Newlove was born in 1906 and lived down Gillet Street in Hull just wondered if anyone could find a Newlove family living down there in the 1901 census. Also my nanna Agnes Woodall born in 1906 she lived down Flinton Street so wondered if anyone could find a Woodall living there in 1901. I don't have much to go on so would be grateful for any help. Thanks
Hi Laura, I was wondering if you knew your greatgrandparents' names which would help rootschatters to help you. I looked at your other post about Clarence. You could get his birth certificate (and Agnes') so that you would have parents names and proceed from there. Free BMD has a birth for a Clarence Newlove March quarter 1905 Holbeck vol 9b pg 294. I wonder if this is him? Holbeck though seems to be the Leeds area. Maybe the family moved. There is a Thomas and Annie Newlove in 1901 with young children in 1901 in Holbeck. Do you have any other family names?
Free BMD also has a birth for Agnes Woodall (the only relevant one) March quarter 1908 Sculcoates vol 9d pg 171.
If all else fails it would be best to send for these certificates or if you have the details- send for their marriage certificate which would give their fathers' names.
best wishes and happy hunting heywood
PS just seen that their marriage on Free BMD: September quarter 1927 Hull vol 9d pg 614
I would send for that first so you will definitely have fathers' details and maybe even the witness names will help.
Hi Laura On the 1901 census there are 6 Newlove and 5 Woodall families living in Hull, but they all seem to be living in what is nowadays central and east Hull, though this doesn't mean that some or all are not your relatives.

Hi Laura, can't find a marriage for Annie Cunningham or even Annie to a Woodall in and around Hull. Neither can I find Annie Woodall born Scotland in 1901 census.
There doesn't seem to be any option other than get the certificates if you want to move on.
