Hi All
My website has not been accessible for a over a week - I've seen a couple of posts about similar things but nothing that tells me how long the problem will last. Any idea?
Thanks
Lesley

Hi Trystan, I just sent you a PM about one of my webpages, and then came across this thread, so please ignore my PM as I'll just follow events here! Cheers Prue

I'd rather wait for Trystan to report back or, if there is a long term problem, put mine up on 1 & 1 where I have an account.
Remember that Roots webspace is free and without adverts and very easy to use.

Hear hear gadget... I think you would be hard-pressed to find a free site with as much flexibility and, even better, so much free support.

Absolutely agree
The flexibitily allows you to build a site which isn't just based on a gedcom, my site is more about the stories of my ancestors and the places they lived in than my tree. Or it would be if I could get to it.

Or it would be if I could get to it. I'm still getting hits recorded on stat counter (only a very small proportion of what I normally get)!
I worked out that people must be looking at the cached pages held by the search engine (all hits have been google, except for a couple yesterday from MSN).
So your site is probably out there somewhere! You just have to enter the right search terms in google, and view it page by page
Anyone got an alternative explanation?

Maybe your site is the only one there, Julian - you're taking up the whole server
I haven't checked my stats - good idea.

RootsChat Free Webspace Update
We have leased a new server for the Free RootsChat Webspace.
It's faster, and more powerful than the one that we have been using, and it means that users present and future RootsChatters who have free RootsChat webspace will benefit from this.
We were hoping to have existing free websites back online this last weekend, but due to essential work on the main RootsChat.com site, and with Sarah and I being away for three nights (the Swansea meet on Saturday, then two nights in Hay on Wye), then unfortunately things have slipped behind. Sorry.
The *good* news is though is that the new rootschat free webspace server is performing brilliantly, and if all goes well, you will be fully online by this coming weekend. If we are not totally happy with the setup, then naturally we will have to delay this.
We apologise for the downtime of the free RootsChat webspace, but we assure you that the future of your data on RootsChat has been our highest priority.
