Boscastle PRs
« on: Monday 14 January 08 10:35 GMT (UK) »

I seem to recall that Boscastle is split over 2 parishes - Minster and another name I forget ...

On the IGI I cant see records past 1812, nor any references in the Resources Forum.

Can anyone please advise if there are transcriptions, or is this a visit / email to County Archives ?

Much appreciated.

Forrabury
Quote
This parish is on the north Cornish coast between the parishes of Trevalga and St Juliot. However, Forrabury parish become united with Minster by Act of Parliament in 1779. The parish contains the picturesque village and harbour of Boscastle which lie sheltered by the surrounding hills. The lower part of the village and harbour was badly damaged by severe flooding which occurred in August 2004.

At the OPC database, if you just enter the parish eg FORRABURY in baps then you can guage if there's gaps
http://www.cornwall-opc-database.org/searchdb.php?yr=&pr=FORRABURY&forename=&surname=&records=50&dbname=baptisms&Submit=Search they seem complete

What is the name you are looking for?

Marriages 1814 to 1837 are there also

Thanks Althea - but my searching seemed to support this note ...

I'm looking for a James-surnamed Groom to a lass called Letitia or Loetitia - according to the 1851 census. He was a mariner and not enumerated, hence she is Head of Household ....

I may have found her baptism, but no sign of a marriage - there is an 8 year old son John James in 1851 Boscastle - Forrabury
