Hi Sussex Rcers
I've got a puzzle here.
One of my Payne's Henry born 1804, I have on 1841 to 1871 census, he died 1879. In each one he has a wife Tamar born Horne, Surrey from 1815 to 1818.
I have searched the Sussex and Surrey Marriage Indexes for their marriage with no luck. Have also looked on the IGI. Their first son, William was born 1834 I think. He is on 1841 but not 1851 census.
If anyone has any ideas or can search for this marriage I would be grateful.

I have found a baptism which looks promising for Tamar.
Thamar Ledger daughter of Benjamin & Elizabeth Ledger 24 Apr 1814
Other children:
Benjamin, Joseph, James, Edmund and Felix.
Benjamin Ledger married Elizabeth Maynard, both otp, Horne, 10 May 1811
No success with a marriage for her and Henry, but the name lends itself to all sorts of variants.

Wonderful, I bet that's her. Funny I have Ledger in another part of my family from the same place. Oh no not more connections! 
Funny I think I may have noticed a marrage between a Henry Payne and a Jane Ledger this morning that would fit. I will have another look.

I was correct 24 March 1835 Henry Payne and Jane Ledger at Horne by banns.
I will try to check PR for the marriage and also her birth.
I suppose with an accent Tamar and Jane could sound alike!!
