Would also like to know where Philip was born.

Thanks,

Hi Fizzybubble

Have you any idea when they were born or the names/ages/birthplaces of any children?  It just makes searching a bit easier sometimes.

Hi
On the 1871 census there is only one PHILIP THIRWALL aged 2 born Bedlington, Northumberland.
There are a few Elizabeth Stovolds, the youngest being aged 6 b Puttenham, Surrey.
Would you like the details of these, or are they too young?
Would you like me to look on a later census for the couple?

Thanks very much for replying.

Philip Alfred Thirlwall and Elizabeth Stovold married at Aldershot on 09.04.1863.

They had George in 1867 and he was baptised in Woolwich and this is why I wanted to see if the family was still in the area in 1871 and 1881.

Thanks,

Hiya casalguidi,

That is totally brilliant and totally unexpected but helps me with linking them to Manchester which I was trying to do too (and the North) --brill brill.

If you were able to find them in 1871, would it be too much trouble to ask you to find them in 1881 and 1891 too.

Thankyou so very much. I couldnt find them on the LDS 1881 census. I wonder where they were - can I solve the mystery. Perhaps they were out of the country Huh? Not very likely I suppose. I shall press on and if I find them I shall be sure to tell you.

Best Wishes,

You can also search the 1881 on here but the indexing is no better than LDS.  You can search on birthplace though ie. Hyde:

Good luck

Hiya casaguidi (tried to spell that from memory so I hope that I am right)

Burning with curiosity now. Is there any way that you can find out for me where Philip was and with whom in 1841, 1851 or 1861 ?

Thanks

Censuses earlier than 1871 are sparsely indexed and you need to know which town/area to look at. If he is a pensioner at 42 (in 1871) though; chances are that he was in the army/services somewhere.
