I have an ancestor who was born in College Road, Cranleigh, Surrey in 1914. I cannot find College Road on any modern maps of Cranleigh. Would anyone know where this might be?

Presumably the college in question is Cranleigh School.

There is a website which mentions a  Stemp family at "San Nicolo" in College Road in 1939/40. http://web.ukonline.co.uk/the.nook/charts/s/stemp317.htm

The Stemp family is listed at "St Nicolo" in Cranleigh in the 1913 Surrey Directory on http://www.historicaldirectories.org/hd/index.asp

San Nicolo or St Nicolo is presumably a play on the name of St Nicholas - the parish church of Cranleigh - so perhaps College Road lay between the church and the school.

So - somewhere between the church and school. Maybe there was a back lane from the village into the school in those days which is no longer in use?
