It covers Chaddesley and its associated hamlets like Drayton, much of the information he used in the 1960s was stored in the Parish chest, but he also lists useful things like how many Enclosure Awards and Maps are still existing for Worcestershire etc. It is well worth getting from the library, or buying from www.abebooks.co.uk where there will be a load advertised I expect as it has been reprinted several times.

I have a signed first edition given to me at the time of publication in 1962. It was John West's first book but he went on to write other classic local history books. Makes me feel a bit old

Hi everyone just have to share this good news. I emailed the webmaster of the Chaddesley Corbett village site who kindly redirected my mail to the local history society as a result I am now in contact with the present owners of my Great Grandparents house. Isn't the internet wonderful I can't stop smiling now I can prove a few family stories. Although he was on all the censuses as ag lab Gran always maintained her father was a farm the cottage he lived in was once known as Steward's Cottage so that adds credence to the story. Gran said they took bread to a communal oven in the village and until 25 years ago the villagers still took their Christmas turkey to the bake house so that adds a bit of truth to that story I'm so happy I just want everyone to enjoy my luck Trees

Well I now know the house was C1600 and built with ships timbers the present owner says that there is wood in the bedroom that looks like a tree! So thats another story given credence The previous tenant was a harness maker he moved on to be the landlord at the Fox, but the house is thought to have been the home for the Bailiff of Lord Throckmorton. Its close to three large farms so we still don't know which on Edward worked for. The present owner's grandfather farmed one of the farms while Edward was resident there so may be he worked for him. When were the Jukes the bakers EBN? Trees
