Lost someone in Cumbria? Links for those sneek back and forth over the border!
« on: Monday 14 January 08 23:20 GMT (UK) »

Hi, all.

I din't know about anyone else, but one of the hardest things researching in Cumberland is, that people pop in and out of the county in all directions -

over the Scottish Border, including Gretna Green!,

across the sea to Ireland,

over to the Isle of Man,

hop on a boat to any destination you care to mention - or link to it via Liverpool,

not to mention the ones who come and go in twos and three's over the generations.

It doesn't solve everything, but I came across this brilliant post in the new posts, for just a few miles over the border in Scotland.  All sorts of records etc, too many to mention!

So if you've lost someone have a look!

Rootschat, I hope it's okay to post this here, but this really is a major headache from Cumbria, especially the north and coast, and this is where the people with the headaches will be looking!!

Best wishes

Emms

Hi, Sorry, I'll try!

I thought I did the same as usual, but quite possibly I didn't in my old age!
