Help needed- where to begin?

I am searching for information re

Julia Ann Nelson/Neilson born Julia Ann Harry in Dorset in 1860.
In 1883 she married a Carl or Carls Nelson or Neilson at St Silas Lancashire- then they disappear.
i am thinking that Carl maybe a sailor possibly of Danish or Norwegian background  and am wondering what the best way to track if they either emigrated to another country or returned to his place of origin?

I have searched the 1891 Census so have  people better qualified Adan experienced than me and they are not to be found- nor is there any evidence of deaths being recorded in the UK.
any help would be appreciated

On Find My Past, there are a few possibilities between 1890 and 1901 that could be your Carl and Julia, all arriving in the U.S.A.
