Hello, Nicola,

For what timeframe??  Any names, birth dates, country of origin??

There are some listings for Los Angeles but not San Pedro specifically.

No Nicholas in 1910, 1920, 1930   w/ this spelling of the surname.

The possible misspellings or mis-transcriptions are pretty endless.   Let me know if anything above strikes a chord and will give it another another try based on that.

This name has people born USA, Serbia, Croatia, Italy, Austria, Czechoslovakia and  other places  .....  might help if you have any other clue as to which group might be yours.

Thanks for this info, Lissa.
Think it could be Nicholas T Bacich, b 1926.
A family member thinks he died late 1970`s early 1980`s.
Is there any way of telling whether he came to England in the forties,
Regards, Nicola

Hi Nicola,  I will look for him in 1930 census.  I did briefly but he wasn't located but  maybe misspelled.

I don't think I can find if he travelled to England,  you would need to check if there are passenger records for this period in England  BUT maybe a U.S. passport application can be located  and maybe his return passage to the U.S.

Still at work ---  so will have to get back to you later.

Hi LissaM
Greatful thanks for the info you have sent. It has been a great help to me and my family. I thinkthe one i`m looking for is Nick J Bachis b 1924. Are you able to find out any other info on him, ie. did he marry and when or where did he die?
My Nicholas Bacich married a lady in England in 1944 and was a soldier from America. They had 2 children. He went back to the US when his Army posting came to an end. His son b 1946 went to the US to look for him and days before he was due to meet him Nicholas died of a heart attack. This is why we are trying so hard to build a tree and find out about the Bacich family.

Regards and thank you,
Nicola

The marriage certificate in England might have some useful information like his age and father's name.

Sorry Nicola,  the only place to find him with family is 1930 and I've already given you what I've found in that regard.  So unless if you find some additional details for him,  think I'm at the end of my usefulness.

Get's tricky with recent documents and where there may be living relatives.

If you google for California vital records,   there are numerous sites all of which will probably require payment and may or may not produce what you are looking for.

Here is the official California site.   It looks like you can order "informational" certificates

http://www.cdph.ca.gov/certlic/birthdeathmar/Pages/default.aspx

Also posting here on a surname or locality message board may yield additional help and information.  I've had very good luck here with finding local obits, etc.

Best of luck in your searchings.

A search on newspaperarchive.com for Nicholas Bacich and Nick Bacich yielded a few results, including in California.  If anyone has a subscription (mine lapsed), maybe they can do a look-up for you.  They also have a subscription available for $20 for one week, which is expensive, but might be have some good results.
