Royston Lookup - Horace STOTEN

Hi,Could someone kindly have a look up for the following person,please.?

Horace Edward STOTEN. Born Royston 1897.
I know these details to be correct,but i cant find him listed anywhere.? No birth,marriage or death.I do know the spelling is right and also the date.But i just cant find him.!  .Any help would be much appreciated.

The birth was registered in the June quarter 1897 Royston District folio 3a page 541.

I'm afraid that unless you happen to link up with a relative who has this information, the only way that you will discover his marriage and death will be to trawl through the GRO Indexes.  This can be a lengthy process I'm afraid.

The Indexes are available at all County Record Offices and most main libraries. There are also several online pay to view sites.

I have had a quick search of the 1901 census, without success I'm afraid.  Others may have more luck.  However, I think that the safest thing to do would be to order his birth certificate as this will give you his parents names.  You can then try to find them in previous censuses and cross reference with bmd certificates.

Hi Rick. Thanks for the advice,i was thinking along the same lines,myself.Im trawling the index's at the moment,but i cant seem to find anything.. I think your right,the birth cert will certainly help. This man cant just have disappeared.

Just checked the indexes and it would appear that your man Horace E F Stoten

married

Ella J Tuthill

in 1917 in the Oct to Dec quarter registered in Islington

Vol 1b page 507

So if you order that, providing of course you know he did marry Ella J and have children with her, you should then get at least his fathers name - hopefully.
