This is a very long shot but you never know!!  Looking for the family of William Hartshorn born Wolverhampton 1834.  His father was Samuel Hartshorn and his mother possibly called Jane.  Thanks

Thanks for taking the time to look in the 1891 census.  Unfortunately they are not the family I am looking for, I was hoping that someone would be able to look in the 1851 census for them or even earlier if possible.

Thanks anyway

Sarah

Hi!
This is an equal longshot, but I have a:

Charles Hartshorne b. ABT 1875, m. Kezia Williams July 19, 1899.
Both from Staffs. Kezia was born in Little Norton, Norton, Staffs. - June 16 1875.

Any connection?

Thanks for the thought, I don't think there is a connection.  My William Hartshorn like I said was bn in Wolverhampton in 1834.  He married Jane Ruddock in Bristol in 1859, his first 3 children Henry 1861, Rose 1864 and Jane 1865 were born in either Staffordshire or Yorkshire.  He then moved to Poplar in London and stayed there until his death.  William and Jane had a further 10 children that I know of all born in Poplar.

Williams father Samuel bn 1819,  I think is shown in the 1881 census as widowed living 173 Bilston Road Wolverhampton with his son George and family.

What I am trying to find is the family in 1851 to find the siblings of my William.

Thank you for all your help and advice so far.

Sarah

Hello Sarah,
Have you thought of looking under Hartshorne ?
On the Staffs 1851 Census Piece 2019 there is a Samuel aged 32 with his wife Elizabeth aged 28 and their son George aged 5. Samuel is a Tin Heater b Madeley Shrops. Elizabeth was born Tipton and George b W'ton. They were living at 145 East Street, Wolverhampton.  There are Hartshorns at 44 Bilston Street, 128 Bilston Road and 137 Bilston Road
Hope this is helpful.
There are very many with the name Hartshorn(e) in Staffs, many of whom seem to be b Shrops.
I have images of Pieces numbered 2017, 2019, 2018, 2025.

I'm interested in Hartshorne's from around Tipton area.
My GG grandmother was Elizabeth Hartshorne who married Samuel Ensor in Tipton on 31 May 1841.  Her father's was Joseph Hartshorne.  My G grandmother Betsy Ensor was Elizabeth and Samuel's eighth child and was baptised at St Lawrence, Darlaston.  The family immigrated to NZ on the Armstong arriving in Auckland 16 Feb 1865.  I have nothing else at all on the Hartshorne's only Elizabeth's fathers name - but would be interested in anything anyone has about this Hartshorne family.
Regards
