Joseph HUNT - where was he born?
« on: Wednesday 16 January 08 14:22 GMT (UK) »

Hello All,

I have traced back my direct line back to Joseph HUNT who I think married Ann Symmonds 25/6/1752 Stanton Harcourt. Joseph was not of this parish but described as a "sojourner" which I believe is a person temporally living in a parish. The term is used in the record of banns to describe one of the bridal couple as a temporary resident, rather than a trade description.

Joseph was buried in Hanborough 6/4/1807 aged 81 so he was born 1726.

I have not found a baptism for Joseph in either Stanton Harcourt or Hanborough.

His two sons were called Joseph (eldest) & John, so one of these first names could be the name of his father.

Is anyone researching Hunts in Oxfordshire?

Regards,

Gillian
