Saving to CD
« on: Wednesday 16 January 08 15:53 GMT (UK) »

I recently saved my family tree to CD which is fine, but now that I have put on some more details and want to save it again, could someone explain to me please,do I use the same CD and will it save the whole thing 'over the top' of the last lot or does it need a new CD.  I dont understand computers at all  as you can probably tell.   Be grateful if someone could explain how it works please.

CDs do not work in the same way as hard drives, so no it will not overwrite the information currently on your CD.

You will have to write the whole thing again to CD and it will create a second folder on the CD with the latest version.

So you will end up with two versions on CD - the old and the new.

You can make a folder on the CD first and then write your family tree data to that folder.
