Hi everyone, help needed please. I have Matthew Hole chr 1815 Cookbury, Devon, died 1891, Melbourne, Australia. He marr Elizabeth Leate in 1837 St Germans, Cornwall. She was b 1819 Stonehouse or Plymouth. It is possible [but not yet sustantiated] his father was William Hole b 15.05.1768 Milton Damerel marr to Elizabeth Batten 20.11.1792 Bradford, Devon [they appear to have had 11 children]. His father John Hole chr 22.04.1725 Thornbury marr Susana Dennis b Milton Damerel. His father William marr Elizabeth Petherick chr 01.04.1700 Botus Fleming, Cornwall. Her parents Thomas Petherick and Elizabeth. Does this ring a bell with anyone???

Hi Kazza, that was quick! Where are you by the way? I only ask because Matthew migrated to Oz in 1855 and Elizabeth followed the next year with the children.

I am in Wales, UK. Family lore is that they came from Devon, and my bit stayed in Wales.

hi I am looking for info on Leat / Leate what info do you have on Elizabeth Leate, I on in my family tree but can't find who she married although I have some children for her.

My Elizabeth Leate was born 1819 Stonehouse, Plymouth, Devon and died 1880 Melbourne, Australia. She married 1837 St Germans, Cornwall to a Matthew Hole.

I thought I had hit a jackpot as I have Dennis from Littleham Devon, Petherick from Beaford Devon and Batten also from Beaford. I'll keep an eye open for you but sadly no connections yet

hi again - it;s not easy making connections with the Leat/ Leate's I have found that my family seem to come from East Devon and have gone back to about 1600 - I have contacted other people named Leat and found they are from Sidbury area, I expect that they are related but I can not find out much about my Great Grandads brothers and sisters - I am a believer that back in those day they had a minimum of at least 7 children at a time.
