This may turn out to be my last posting, but here goes anyway. It was just that I was wondering how far one can go with the flavour of one's jokes at the expense of family history at times. A little while ago while researching my Uncle's MARTIN ancestors in the Bridgend area of South Glamorgan I noticed that an Isaac and Catherine Martin had produced at least 13 children between 1809 and 1832, nearly all of them baptised in a small parish called Coity. So of course I came up with the phrase "Coity Uninterruptus", and did feel that the messages and goodwill might possibly have dried up a bit after that. My imagination, or did I slightly overstep the mark...? Very best wishes, Keith

Very funny Keith
Nothing wrong with a bit of "blue" humour - it brightens up my day anyway

Not quite sure how you mean this:
This may turn out to be my last posting, but here goes anyway ... because you are leaving, anyway, or because you feel you are abou to get chucked off for "too blue" humour ??
I thought it was quite clever, well done !
and did feel that the messages and goodwill might possibly have dried up a bit after that. My imagination, or did I slightly overstep the mark...? I (personally) don't think you overstepped the mark. In general I have noticed that communications seem to come in batches ... a topic gets talked about, till people feel they've said all there is to say, then go on to another topic.
I imagine we all get that feeling, that things have "dried up", it's one of the disadvantages of not communicating face-to-face, or even voice-to-voice, i.e. not being able to judge reactions. Even trying to answer your post, I notice I am getting ponderous, whereas face-to-face, I would probably just say "oh don't be silly" or something.
Please don't give up on humourous comments, as the others also said, Nice One !! regards, Bob

Phew! I DID mean that it could have been my last posting if I'd received the seal of disapproval from on high. Anyway, I'll try to stick to the serious business of family history research, though this whole website seems to bring out the best in us all, humour when called for, warts and all... Keith

Keith,
I did not think it was very blue at all. To me, blue is something I would not want a child to hear, and latin terms are not that familiar to them.
Any obscene words would be screened out by the censor, the rest we rely on users to report any offensive.
And we would not boot you off RootsChat for a first offence anyway.
And it was funny, so..........
K.

There's nothing blue about a very clever play on words. I suspect that most people know the difference between the crudity and coarseness of 'blue humour' and clever use of risque language. I can laugh at some of both types but I know their place. Good luck Keith
