Hi Emma, I don't think my reply went out (computer malfunction ). I received the papers as gift from my sister in law, I think they were purchased at the Taunton Antique Market last year. There are 3 large sheets ( one is double sided ). I have only scanned them quickly as there is a lot of typical legal jargon but what I sent seems to be the jist of it.It is signed and sealed by both parties. The flags on the tin are blue with a white cross and a Union Jack in the upper corner. One is rectangular , the other is triangular ( pennant ). This may have something to do with his Ship's Chandler business. Regard, Roger

Hi Roger!
That was very kind of you!
My e-mail is: a-c.karlsson@mbox303.swipnet.se
May I ask you why your sister in law bought it for you? Are you interested in old things or are you or she related in some way with the Tholander family?
Best wishes Lotta

Hi Lotta, Sorry she isn't a relative. I am fortunate that she knows I like old interesting bits and pieces. I think this was purchased because of the document tin and the flags painted on it and I think the Tholander document was a bonus. Regards, Roger.

Hi Roger! It makes me wonder what was in the document tin in the beginning...Maybe documents from his work as a ships chandler. I also wonder about the flags, painted on it -do you think he could have painted them himselves?
Regards, Lotta

Hi Lotta, Photo's sent today. The tin is for mortgage papers etc. I think it was to keep important papers safe and secure. I would say that thre is a chance he may have painted this name and the crossed flags himself, if not one of his employees. Regards , Roger

regards Lotta

Thank you! That was very interesting! Now I have two more names and my hope is to find where the Tholander family are today. I tried to look for Edward and Ernest but I did not find anything -I would be very happy if anyone could give me a clue where I should look for them.
Regards Lotta
