Good morning,
If someone has access to PR's of St. Peter's, St. Albans, I am looking for the date of birth/baptism of Elizabeth WORBY b. c1817.
Elizabeth married John WHITE in 4thQ 1837 in St. Albans, quite probably in St. Peter's. The date of marriage would be a wonderful bonus, as well as any names of parents, witnesses etc.
John & Elizabeth had about 7 children between 1837 and 1848, most if not all baptised at St. Peter's: - Eliza b. 1837, Alfred b. 1838, Sarah b. 1840, Emily Maria b. 1842, James b. 1845 (?), Ann b. 1845 and Harriett b. 1848.
I have 1851 and 1861 Census info, with no sign of John the father, but no domicile either.
Any info would be gratefully received. Thanks.
Nick

Elizabeth is a widow on 1851/61 census
There is this death, which is a possibility for John
John White Mar Qtr 1849 St Albans 6 347
1851 Elizabeth and children living at Waddington Row St Albans
1861 Elizabeth living at 2 Everilda St Islington Middlesex with married daughter Eliza (plus husband and children), 1 boarder, 17yr old Orphan and married daughter Sarah + husband and child are visiting
Purchase of the marriage cert would give you Elizabeth's father's name
Is this the information you seek?

Good morning Suz,
Your info is very interesting - many thanks. The WORBY/WARBY name variation could help explain why I haven't been able to find her birth or baptism before.
I guessed John probably died around 1849 but hadn't been able to nail down any confirmation up to now.
You've already been of great help. Thank you.

Hi Nick,
Worby! When you are looking also look for Worboys - I was both spellings with my lot in Hitchen.
Must see if any are in St Albans!!
Cheers
Keith

Keith, Peter,
Many thanks for your info. Will have to keep an eye out for Worboys, and it sounds as if the John WHITE burial could be the right one.
The 33 years of age could be approximate though. I had found 2 John WHITE's baptised in Abbey, St. Albans, one in 1809 and the other in 1819. Trouble is, the name is so common it's difficult to know which one could be the right one !
Thanks for your time and trouble anyway.

Good evening Peter,
You have just supplied me with a very valuable piece of information, which I have been after for some time ! Many thanks indeed !
This would suppose that John (the son) who married Elizabeth WORBY, was born c1817. The 2 births/baptisms I had found which seemed to be about the right time have just been shot down in flames, because John the father was a tailor, and he wasn't one of the options ! Back to the drawing board on this one. I don't suppose that John The Son's baptism figures in St. Peter's PR's by any chance around 1817 ?
Concerning the children, I do have their baptism dates thank you, the only one missing being James, over whom I have a doubt. James figures in the 1851 Census, aged 6, head of household Elizabeth WHITE (widow), but I can't find him anywhere else.
If it's not too much to ask, George WARBY & Sophia BONNICK were married at St. Peter's on 14th July 1816. If you could find the details of this one, you'd make my day !
David WARBY (witness) was Elizabeth's younger brother, b. 1819 baptised 23.05.1819 again at St. Peter's.
Once again, Peter, thank you so much for your info. You've bust through one of my "brick walls" !
