Does anyone know if there was any significant disease or illness where a lot of people died during 1891 and 1901. I seem to have a lost quite a lot of relatives in Barrow Gurney around that time of all ages.
As you probably know whooping cough, measles, scarlet fever, diphtheria, typhus, typhoid, and tuberculosis were endemic in Victorian times, also infant mortality was very high.
I lost quite a few relatives to various illnesses during that time, but it seems to be significantly higher for the branch in Barrow Gurney in Somerset. I wondered if there was a large local epidemic.
