Can anyone suggest where and how I could look for my great grand aunt Julia Harry.
Julia was born abt 1860 in Gillingham Dorset to my great great G'dad George Harry and his first wife Caroline Fricker.
Caroline dies in 1865 in Ellesmere Shropshire and George remarries there to Mary France. He remains there until his death in 1912.

Julia and her brother Evan (B abt 1862 Bristol) and sister Eliza (b abt 1864 Ellesmere) are all on the 1871 census with George and his new wife Mary as well as her children and a new one.

From then I can find nothing about Julia or Evan. I believe that i have found Eliza working as a servant in Ellesmere in 1881 but nothing for the others no births, deaths or marriages and no census entries.

any help much appreciated

The registration district for Gillingham is shaftesbury

THe only Harry born 1862 Bristol is this one!

Eva Harry born sept quarter 1861 Bristol  Avon,Gloucestershire 6a 47
Could it be a possibilty the N was missed off the name Evan.

Eliza Harry born march quarter1864 Ellesmere  Flintshire,Shropshire 6a 757

Why did I not pick up that birth?
I have had  this 1881 census record on my file for some time wondering if the 1881 census was wrong and it should be Evan Harry but now I think that the 1871 census transcribing was wrong and it was always  Eva Harry!!

Now double excitement!

I looked at marriages and found an Eva Harry married in 1882 in Lancashire with two possibilities for spouse.

went to the 1891 census and there she was as Eva Livesley  ( spouse is on marriage as James Livesey (another name error) but I am pretty sure this is the one.

thanks so much for clearing things for me- now to find Julie Ann ?Juliet ( pretty sure its Julie Ann).

I am guessing that I will need to get the birth certificate that you pointed out to try to resolve this- I cannot see any other way really.



have just found a Julie Ann Harry married 1883 in Lancashire.

Marriage 11 Nov 1883 St.Silas Liverpool

Julia Ann Harry + Carl Nelson.

Try asking on Lancs. board - anyone visiting Lancs record
office,would they mind looking for this marriage in parish
registers - it will state fathers name + occupation.
