There are Hitchs in Denham, but no family with that combo of names ...... in fact I cant see a Caroline of that age anywhere - maybe she married ?!

This what I have found so far - you may have it
There is a baptism of Caroline Hitch to Thomas and Sarah in 1822 Denham Bucks which may or may not be accurate.
Like Newfster I cannot locate this family unit in 1841
However in 1851 there is a Caroline Daney/Doney living with her husband Francis and children in Uxbridge Middlesex This lady is recorded as born 1823 Denham Buckinghamshire
There is a marriage where these people appear on the same page
Caroline Hitch/John Doney Marriage registered qrt ending Dec 1845 Uxbridge 3 349
This may be Caroline in 1841
Uxbridge Moor Uxbridge
William Johnson 42 Mary Johnson 40 Caroline Hitch 10 Ann Wilson 3
Caroline is recorded as not being born in Middlesex. Ages of children were rounded down on the 1841
HO107Folio 18 Page 4
This may indicate that something happened to her parents - I can't match any deaths that would fit on FreeBMD but as we all know that is far from complete

Thanks Tricia For what you have found out. The Doney name is correct as she married a Francis Doney. I'll check out the other info you have sent though and maybe be able to piece it together. Thanks again Helen

good detective work there 'Tricia .... I saw that lass too, but ....
Caroline Hitch 10 Caroline is recorded as not being born in Middlesex. Ages of children were rounded down on the 1841
the rounding down was only for adults (15 and over)

Did you look at the 1841 entry - It could be 20 - It's not easy doing this along with washing and dashing out to the shops

theres other 10 year olds and 20 year olds, so it looks firmly like 10 ..... but who knows !
If its the same lass who married in 1845 and is seen on the 1851, then the 1841 age is wrong ....

Yes, I know but since when has that mattered
I can't see anything else that remotely fits
Revlac - have you got Caroline's marriage cert - maybe witnesses would help

I think we are agreeing - it doesnt matter what is on a census quite often !
