Hi all

Has anyone heard of a place called Stainder in Derbyshire?

I have a birth in approx 1768 of a Martha - who married a William Derbyshire in 1809 in Stockport (St Mary's).  The parish register says she was a widow by the name of Martha Richards.

I have not located her marriage to Mr Richards so do not know her original name,

The 1851  Census (which I believe to be her) has her living in Bollington, Cheshire and she gives her birth place as Stainder, Derbyshire.  estimated birth year in 1851 is 1781, in 1841 it is 1776 -  but I have her death cert and she died aged 85 in sep 1851. 

HO107/2158/ 372/p 28 (1851 census) (pretty sure this is her)
HO107/104/5  (1841 - definitely her with her husband)



Does anyone have any tips as to where to look next to try to trace her backwards?

McBride (Monaghan & Manchester), Derbyshire (Bollington,Cheshire), Knight (Newcastle,Staffs), Smith (Chorley, Lancashire & Ireland), Tipladay (Manchester & Yorkshire) ,Steadman (Madeley,Shropshire), Steele (Manchester & Glasgow), Parkinson (Wigan, Lancashire), Lovatt, Cornes & Turner (Staffordshire) Stott (Oldham, Lancs). All ended up in Ardwick, Manchester - in Cotton Mills, Iron Works, or running pubs and corner shops.
