Hi,
I am trying to expand the family tree research started by my grandfather (now deceased) This is the information I have for this generation of the family: John Snookes born c1815 died 10 Nov 1855 Sheffield occupation Table Blade Grinder Wife Mary nee Mount born c1820 Children Harriet Snookes born 1841 William Snookes born 1842 Fanny Snookes born 1843 James Snookes born 1845 Frederick Snookes born 23 Oct 1847 Sheffield died 2 Dec 1926 Ryhill occupation Coal Miner (my direct ancestor) Elizabeth Snookes born 1849 Emily Snookes born 1850 Catherine Snookes born 1852 Henry and Joseph Snookes born 18 Feb 1856
I have found a FreeBMD death index for a John Snooks (note spelling) Quarter Dec 1855 Sheffield 9c 159 but that is as far as I get. My Grandad's research records his father as another John Snookes
I am resident in the US which makes this a little harder too, being 5 hours behind the UK

Thanks for the census info Dee that helps a lot.
Tuppie, thanks for those possibilities, the Radford St. ones certainly seem to match the 1851 census data from Dee
Thanks for all your work Ian

Hi Ian.
I think these burials are also a certainty, taken that the twins were born in Feb 1856 and you also have a death 10th Nov 1855 for John SNOOK(E)S
The majority of burials for this period have been transcribed by the Sheffield and District FHS and these are from that disc.
St Johns Church. Park District. SNOOKS John 13 Nov 1855 aged 40 Dixon St SNOOKS Henry 11 Mar 1856 aged 2w Furnival St SNOOKS Joseph 11 Mar 1856 aged 2w Furnival St
Kind Regards Tuppie

Tuppie, thank you,
I completely missed the fact that you had given me the burial for John
I suspect that Harriet at SS Peter & Paul is also correct as I have so far only been able to find descendants of Frederick and Fanny, Catherine remains a mystery at the moment.
