Sure you have found this long ago but Daisy died in 1922.  Amy Cooper  was already living in the house as housekeeper before she married Lewis.

Danone

If you want specific help with a specific query, please start a new thread with a new title,so that others who may have the respective knowledge can join in.

You now seem to be asking about the surname Cooper, and this thread is really questions about finding Daisy Moore.

Did you ever get that death cert from 1922 that Liz suggested,it will confirm if it is the right person or not?

If your question about Daisy is complete then go into this thread and write the word COMPLETED in the title after the name and a moderator will move it to the completed boards.

Regards

Carol

For those on the confusing Gostelow Moore/Cooper trail.

Hope this might help:

We have Daisy Anderson/Gostelow Moore's death certificate.  She died in 1922 of lupus I believe that Daisy had gone down in the 1918 flu epidemic and didn't really get better.

She was Lewis Anderson's first wife, Amy Cooper was his second wife.  Daisy and Lewis married in February 1911, Amy Cooper and Lewis in 1931.   I believe, but cannot yet confirm that Dasy Gostelow Moore and Amy Cooper were cousin's.

Lewis and Daisy had one child, Amy born in July 1912. Lewis and Amy (Cooper) were childless.

Hope I haven't confused things more.

LAJ

*Lupus is a chronic and still-incurable illness of the immune system, a condition in which the body's defence mechanism begins to attack itself through an excess of antibodies in the blood stream causing inflammation and damage in the joints, muscles and other organs.

The name systemic lupus implies that almost any organ or system within the body might be affected and lupus is perhaps the classical multi-symptom illness.

The causes of lupus is not positively known though modern research has provided evidence implicating heredity, hormones and infections including viruses.

90% of sufferers are female, mainly between the ages of 15 and 55.

Hi LAJ,

And welcome to Rootschat  Grin

Thanks for that explanation, yes that does make things a lot clearer.

How do you fit into the picture?

Is there anything else we can help with on the Daisy Moore front?

Thanks Carol, glad to be here.

I am Lewis and Daisy's only direct descendant, I think.  They were my great-gransparents.  Amy, their daughter, who just to confuse things further married into a different family called  Moore was my Grand mother.

I didn't know either Lewis or Daisy, but did know Amy Cooper who I always thought of as my great-grandmother - though I knew that she was a second wife.  I also knew her sister, Evelyn and Len Oxford who lived next door to my great-grandmother.

Amy, my grand mother, lived near or with us/my mother and shared a fair amount with us before her death.  Sadly not as much I would have liked as she was stricken with early onset Alzheimer's.  My Mum has a great memory and remembers clearly quite alot about Lewis and his family, I really only remember his youngest siblings Ivy and Percy.

I think I am stuck a bit further back on the Gostelow side.  (As far as I know the family always used Gostelow).  I know that there are three older siblings who don't use Moore - Rhoda (1885), Florrie (1887) and Mary (1889) and a younger brother who also uses Gostelow Moore (1893) (info from census listings). I know that their 'parents' were James Gostelow and Eliza.  I don't have confirmation of their marriage, can't yet work out which of the children 'belong' to both James and Eliza and which to one or the other.  My grandmother believed that James had been married before but I have nothing to go on.

I am also going on not much evidence on the Gostelow front in general.  I beleive they were probably a Markfield family, at least for a couple of generations further back. There is a James with a widowed mother Jane on both the 1861 and 81 censuses (Gostelow gets transcribed as Gosteloa but it looks clear to me on the image).  They might be the same people and the dates are about right to be having children in the 1880s.... I really need to be able to get back to BMD/church records don't I?  Anyway if it is them, this thread then goes through Jane back to Coleorton Moor wh were Jane was born around 1820. Is there anyway of checking while keeping the expenditure to a minimum?

Any suggestions gratefully accepted!

Many thanks

LAJ (or as I am known in real life, Lucy Anderson Jones - and yes, that's where the Anderson comes from, doing confusing things with the name obviously runs in the family!
