Missing relative in the early 1900's
« on: Tuesday 22 January 08 00:06 GMT (UK) »

Sir Redvers Buller Stone.
Found a relative of mine.   Sir being the first name and not a title.  Born in 1900 in Fulham to Charles and Alice Stone.  Apparently named after a famous Boar War hero.  One of several children, one of which was Evelyn Blanche.  Would appreciate any info.   Sue -

Sir Redvers Buller  V.C  1839  -  1908

If you Google :  Sir Redvers Buller
you get loads of sites you can read about him.

I had a similar thing - one of my relations was registered and baptised Daniel Langley - then his dad admired Sir Redvers Buller so much that he added the name Redvers to Daniel's birth certificate - himself - in purple ink !

Thanks for the quick reply.  Yes, I have seen the site you speak of.  My Sir Redvers was names after him but no relation.    Sue
