pre 1837 Irish records ( helllllllllllp)
« on: Tuesday 22 January 08 14:32 GMT (UK) »

My 2x gr grandfather James Roach b, 1834/6 Kilkenny Ireland
                                                     m.Ann 11 6 64 Swansea
                                                     d, march 1917 Llanelli

How would I go about finding any more info from here.
I know James father was called James and he was present at the wedding. How would I find out about a Wife?
But before the 1861 Wales census I can find nothing.
there must be some way to find a DOB for people before 1837?

Please help i just don't know here to go
thanks
Kevin

Not sure why you have 'pre 1837' in title of this thread but civil registration of Irish births began in 1864- for earlier dates you need to search for church records (if they still exist). To do so you need to know the family's religion and where they lived (parish if not actual townland not just the county).
Might be worth searching on LDS site (www.familysearch.org) to see if there is any extracted or submitted information (or in their catalogue to see if they've microfilmed the church records if you find where they lived).
