James Martin/Mark Martin/James Mark Martin
« on: Thursday 06 January 05 11:26 UTC (UK) »

Hi,  I am trying to track my great grandfather known variously as James Martin, James Mark Martin and Mark Martin.  I believe he was born in Bedford around 1820/1821.

James Mark Martin was an ironmonger and brazier and first appears in the 1841 census for Chesterfield Derbyshire in the household of a William Hall an ironmonger.  The 1841 census records indicate neither James Mark Martin nor William Hall were Derbyshire born.

The 1851 and 1861 censuses of Chesterfield Derbyshire indicate that he was a brazier and ironmonger who claims to have  been born in Bedford.   Information from a wedding certificate where he is called Mark Martin indicates his father was  a James Martin (an excavator).

Can anyone shed any light on the Martin family please?

Happy New Year everyone!
