Michael Keane & Bridget Dugan Family of Mylerstown Co Kildare Ireland
« on: Thursday 24 January 08 14:07 UTC (UK) »

My G-g-g-Grandparents were Michael Kane and Bridget Dugan ...... Their son Patrick married Maria Stakem of Athy Co Kildare Ireland in Lawrence Mass in 1868.  Both parents names of Patrick and Maria were on the marriage registration in the court house in Lawrence Mass.

It took me years to find where in Ireland that Patrick came from as both he and Maria died when my G-granny was young and all children were placed in Orphanage in Pittsburgh Pa.  It was through 2 sisters of Patrick Bridget and Catherine who became nuns in the US that I found my way back to Mylerstown Co Kildare Ireland.

I found Maria Stakems birth info through another Stakem researcher in London who had her fathers death info and had no clue as to how he fit into the Stakem lines as they don't come from Co Kildare Ireland period.... 2 did however Matthew and Denis Stakem lived in Athy Co Kildare.

This KEAN  info is from Allen Parish Registers from Allen Co Kildare Ireland sent to me.

Sharon, lots of information here that you've already found but could you explain what you might be looking for or what questions you'd like to ask?

Am so sorry was trying to get post done and posted befor I left for work and was running late.

What I would be looking for is others doing the surname Kane / Keane / Dugan and other surnames found in baptisms that could connect to Michael and Bridget Kane / Keane nee Dugan.

Also to see if anyone knew what happen to rest of the children of Michael and Bridget Kane.

I know that Patrick, Bridget, Catherine and one of the girls either Ann or Margaret came to the US...

There was a Michael Kane who was in Rochester Pennsylvania in June of 1877 who was a sponsor to one of Patrick and Maria O'Keane [as it was spelt here in the US] daughters baptism.  Was this Michael  Patrick's brother or some other Kane relative of his from Ireland?

Elizabeth married a Michael John O'Connor at Nass in 1882 and came to the US in 1884 but what happen to the others? Did they stay or go elsewhere?

In Sister Bridget Kanes obit it said that she had a niece Mrs Margaret Welsh of Sheffield England
Who were her parents?

Who was the older sister that  Bridget and Catherine Kane went to when they left Mass and came to Missouri in the early 1870s that they went from her house to the Sisters of the Sacred Heart  convent?  Was it Ann or Margaret?  What was her last name if she married?

Where would Michael and Bridget be buried if they lived in Mylerstown?

I have marriages found from Allen that say that some Kanes with same first name married others there in Ireland but are they the children of Michael and Bridget or children of other Kanes that lived in Mylerstown?

How were the other Kanes found as sponsors to baptisms of Michael and Bridget related to Michael?

How were the other sponsors related to the Kanes?

Like others doing family lines in Ireland I have many questions but realize that answers to these questions might not come.

Again I am sorry I didn't complete the post

Sharon
