Friends of Dundee City Archives - online records
« on: Saturday 26 January 08 02:47 GMT (UK) »

Just come across this which may be helpful to anyone with Dundee ancestors

http://www.fdca.org.uk/databases.htm

There are extensive databases for Howff burials (Dundee city's cemetery) and Wesleyan baptisms. There is also an Index of Poor Registers.

Happy hunting!

Hi Ruby

There are some really interesting data bases - can even see if the ancestors owned a car in some areas! (I doubt that any on mine did  Sad  )

People from Ireland have been connected with Dundee for many centuries. The Dundee City Archives Department hold records which can help to trace individuals or research members of the Irish population in the city. While she was a third year MA undergraduate at the University of Dundee, Lorraine Dodman, produced a "Guide to Researching Irish Family / Social History in Dundee" as part of a week-long placement in Dundee City Archives. www.fdca.org.uk/irishguide.htm
