William Heath b 1850 Shoreditch. Married Penelope Poole 1873 West Ham.
The 1891 census shows them living 4 Castle Street East. West Ham Forrest Gate Stratford Essex. His age 40 yrs, occ: Carman. Her age 39 yrs. She was shown as Emma on the census. There were 5 children John, William, George, Florence and Charles, all b Wesat Ham, the youngest Charles shown as 2 yrs of age in 1891.

Hi Pugs and wozzle
Thank you both for your replies. The Heath family are proving difficult as the wife, who was b Penelope, and shown on the 1871 as Penelope, living with her sister Harriett and family at 5 Harmer Pl. Stratford, changes her name to Emma on the 1881 census, where she is shown as Emma. 
By 1891 she is 39 yrs of age, and with her family is living at 4 Castle St East. Forrest Gate West Ham Stratford. Her husband is definately shown as b Shoreditch Middx, and they have 5 children; John, William, George, Florence and Charles, all shown as b West Ham.

you say that williams wife was called emma on the 1891 census
is this not them on 1891

down as penelope not emma though

william age 17. b. chalk farm,middx. occ. tile fixer. son.
george age 13. b. spring hill. occ. trolley ----. son.
florence age 5. b. west ham. daughter.
charles age 2. b. west ham. son.
living at 4 castle street,west ham,essex.
i cannot make out where willliam senior is born but it does,nt look like shoreditch
and all except the last two children are definitely not west ham.
maybe SKS could have a look and see what they think as regards birthplaces.

Hi again wozzle and pugs.
Penelope ( Emma) was living West Ham with her sister Harriet at 5 Harmer Pl. Stratford, at the time of the 1871 census.
She m West Ham 1873. She's living at 4 Railway Tce West Ham in 1881, where she's shown as Emma.
wozzle I have the same details as you on the 1891 census. I've taken another look at the 1891 census details, for the details of where they were born.

Goodness knows where Edington is in Mddlesex  It looks as though Spring Hill is in Hackney.
The 1881 census shows William ( Father) b Shoreditch, and Emma ( Penelope ) b Pershore Worcestershire, but I think the details have been entered wrongly, as Penelope was b Shoreditch, I know that for definate.
Thank you wozzle for the 1901 details for William Jnr.. That's a big help.
there is a possible sighting of george heath in 1901

and also john heath in 1901.

Your help is very much appreciated. By the way, re census details for William Heath. The word we couldn't read prperly showing place of birth is Brancepeth . It's in Co Durham.
