Please can anyone help me locate the whereabouts of Laxton Cottage, in Rothley, Leicestershire. Amelia Richards lived there in the 1920s and early 1930s - can anyone help, please? Better still, any photograph? Thank you. Paulene.

Hi Paulene You could try on the Leicester villages. Rothley is there on the drop down list. I have just had a look lots of pictures but could not see yours . Maybe you could write on the local forum on this site. Best of luck Zena

Hi Zena. I'm one step forward - I've found it was on Swithland Lane, Rothley. So, just need to know it any cottages still exist there, and if it might be on an old map. Thanks for taking the time to reply, and for your suggestion - very kind of you. Kind regards, Paulene.

I live in Rothley and there are some old cottages on the Swithland Lane - sort of row cottages. The rest are very large and expensive homes. So it was probably one of these.

Hi Zena and Sandral, Still not found it. Sorry I haven't been back to thank you both, but I've been searching for an old map of Rothley in the 1920s or 1930s in the hope that it might name properties - no success, as yet. It's interesting to see that in the details on Rothley in Kelly's Directory of Leicestershire, 1916, there are lots of properties on Swithland Lane. However, looking through the roads and streets in the 1901 Census I see Swithland Lane is not mentioned. It might be one of the old cottages you mention Sandral. Thanks for the suggestions - I'll keep you posted. Paulene.
