Richard Gunning b Cloford

I am trying to find out more about Richard Gunning.
He was born in Cloford Somerset.
He died in 1749. His son William was born in Cloford in 1718 so I would estimate his year of birth at c 1689.
I know things get very difficult this far back but hopefully there will be someone out there who can help or point me in the right direction.
