Frustration
« on: Friday 25 January 08 21:42 GMT (UK) »

I'm having a really bad day and all my relatives are hiding from me.

William Reid born 5 sept 1848, died 11 Nov 1900.  Was married to Elizabeth MacKenzie on his death record.  They lived in Ballafeary, Inverness.

She died on 22 March 1921, calling herself Elizabeth Simpson Reid.  Could her full name have been Elizabeth Simpson MacKenzie?

I have William on the 1851, 1861 and 1871 Census with his parents James Reid and Ann Reid at Castle Hill, Inverness and Inches & Drakes.

Then, he just disappears.  I can't find a marriage document but have found both their death records.

PLEASE can anyone help

Thanks

Hi Blue Stern

Could you please tell us:

What were her parents names on  her Death Certificate?
What are the names, ages and places of birth of any/all  of their children?
What was her address of death?
What was her year of birth and where?
Was his address of death just Ballafeary, Inverness - or did it provide a street name or house name?

Cheers  Grin

Her Parents were down as Donald MacKenzie and Marjory Robertson.

Their son Donald MacKenzie Reid - I only have his death as July 1959.  He was aged 76, which makes his birth aroun 1883.  I've been unable to find any birth record.

She was living at Ballafeary Road, inverness on her death.

The death record just says Ballafeary, no streets.

Hope this helps.

I wonder now if the Donald MacKenzie Reid and Catherine Isobel Reid who are buried together in Inverness, are actually brother and sister and not husband and wife as I had originally thought...

Can you find anything in 1881?

I wonder who Catherine Robertson is in relation and if she is actually family.

I've just looked up the census elsewhere and it says she is the Aunt (but aged 23?)

Having a scour in 1881 now ........

Oh cool - got the marriage place - you're quick!  Grin

The 1891 I have access to (a transcription) says Catherine ROBERTSON is a daughter - but that could be an error.  Will try finding her in another one. Does the one you found her on state her marital status?   Catherine ROBERTSON  is roughly same age as Marjory....

I looked on FREEBM for the two youngers - Donald is there, registered in Edmonton, Middlesex - but the only Catherine I see is Catherine May REID...right time and in Edmonton.

But - I think this may be Catherine Isabel:

Elizabeth Catherine I REID - registered Edmonton Dec Qtr 1885

Here is the bit from the image.  It looks like she is actually 73, not 23.  which makes a whole lot more sense.

William signs his name though on the record and states his address as 7 Somerford Terrace, Middlesex.
