Help please. Trying to find parents & birth of Joseph Martin born Sudbury Derbyshire abt 1739.  I am stuck at this stage  in my search. He married Mary Statham 1765 in Ikeston I believe?

Hi,
There is a marriage on IGI Patron Submitted item of
Mary Statham = Joseph Martin  9.2.1764 at Duffield Derbyshire.

Have checked Phillimore Transcripts for this entry which states:-
Joseph Martin of Studley, Warwick & Mary Statham (of Duffield Parish) by Licence.

You can see Phillimore Marriage Transcripts:-

Hello Ken,

I assume you now know that the marriage in Duffield Derbyshire is the
one you are looking for.

This marriage does state that at the time of his Marriage Joseph Martin
was from the Parish of Studley Warwickshire.  However you cannot assume
this was the parish of his Birth.

This early no parents of the bride or groom were stated,  so it is necessary
to find other evidence i.e. Wills etc., it is very difficult to trace ordinary
working people this far back -  and be certain they are your family.

Assume you have got this far by tracing backwards, for instance you do not
give details of James Martin's children or where they were born.

It is always important to remember that not all parish records are on the IGI.

Studley Warwickshire records are on the IGI, you can cut out patron submitted
items by using the following site:-
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers.htm

Have taken a quick look but unable to find a suitable birth, you would need to
look through the actual Parish Register to be certain.

Thanks for the info, I will search the records to see if I can find something. I will also look in other parishes.
I have one child by the marriage, William (B) 1765 Heanor Derby.
I also wonder if they have mixed up Sudbury & Studley?
