WILLIAMS of Cheshunt - 2 Couples Same Names
« on: Sunday 27 January 08 16:56 GMT (UK) »

One Thomas Williams married Martha Robinson Cheshunt 1792 the other Thomas Williams married Martha Thornton Cheshunt 1804.  The second couple are the one's I'm after as they had ancestor Bridget 1827 Cheshunt.  But how to sort who's who sibling wise.  The IGI shows several children baptised Cheshunt 1794 - 1804 so presumably they are of the first couple.  None recorded after that date apart from my Bridget.  So did she have any siblings.
Has anyone got them on their tree?

Hi Sonia,

Was looking to see if i could find anything on one of your Marthas. Found a Martha Williams in 1851 census age 62 b Royston. Husband Thomas age 65 b Cheshunt  Address is 1 Theobold Park, Bury Green
If this Martha was born abt 1789 it cant be either of the ones you have. Its been a long day maybe i
read it wrong.  Smiley Smiley

The Martha Sonia found would make her the Martha Thornton as Maria Robinson was married in 1792, so if Martha Robinson was born 1789 she would have been married aged 3.

Hi Sue & Toni

you're alright Sue - you didn't read it wrong - but take a break before you catch your own tail!
Toni - thanks for that I thought I was suddenly dealing with three couples with the same names.

sorry i meant the Martha that Sue had found

so she has a husband Thomas but did she have any children with her? where was Bridget?

i had a case like this on my tree two Thomas & Marys so i attributed the births prior to the second marriage to the first couple, and the ones after to the second couple, some of the later births could belong to the first couple but i have no way of proving ths as teh PR's just say parents Thomas & Mary and on the census they are not with their parents.

Bridget married 1848 so she might appear with parents in the 1841 census as she was born 1827 she might still be at home - sods law says though she's in service then
