how old was Ralph Norris when he died in 1694? how do we know that he is not the father of Henry Norris b. circa 1700?
it is only 6 years, could Henry have been born 1694 / 1695

Men can father children right up to whenthey died i.e they do not go through a meonpausal period so in theory Ralph could still be Henrys father

or if the mother was Ralph Norris wife and then she had Henry after Ralph died would Ralph have been put down as Henrys father? as is the case now. i.e itis assumed if you are married tha the husband be the childs pfatehr even f that is nto the case.
mind you i geuss thevicar would have known and he would have netered the correct details in the PR.

anyone going to Oxford RO ?

What is a Kings remembrancer?

There are 2 Thomas Godfrey's, son and heir of Thomas. son and heir of Richard.
Both dated 1759  and both 'about 2 acres of Headington'  Undecided

Hmmmmm.
Need to find baptism's but Not there  Undecided

Same sort of thing with the Norris's.  The dates, I must look to see if any match up. Certificate of residence Huh Could that mean similar to removal order.

certificates of residence =

A Certificate of Residence was issued by a Lay Subsidy assessor to ensure that a tax payer who owned property in more than one county was not taxed twice in different locations. The are mainly stored in E 115, but there are some in E 179. An example is the Certificate of Residency George Amye (E 115/6/94).

See Tudor Taxation Records, A Guide for Users by Richard Hoyle.

the extent of registration [in the parish registers] was affected by a tax on births, marriages and deaths imposed between 1694 and 1706 and by a stamp suty on baptisims marriages and burials betwwen 1783 and 1794. these inevitably led to non-baptisim, the description fo dead people as paupers to avoid paymentand in the erlier period, to teh increased incidence of clandestibe marriages.

 Cheesy Hi Kiddo,
Having had a quick look at 1881 in Burnard Place Middx.
I wouldn't mind betting that the Howson, Welford, King, and Hind families are related somehow.
There are connections to Marsh Gibbon, also The Hine Family had fields in Maidenhead. Hine's Meadow, behind the Bridge Road, on the Cookham side, just before the old Almshouse.

Back later.  Cheesy

 Smiley Just bringing this forward.

I also found a marriage of a Ralph Turner at Bray 24 July 1618 to Margeret Turner (his cousin, perhaps?) on FHO - don't know if he will turn out to be of any use, but this marriage is not on the IGI.
