NA stuff:
Information relating to document ref. no. W/D/124/ii Admission: Thomas Godfrey, eldest son & heir of Richard Godfrey the Elder, baker, deceased to the copyhold tenancy of 2 acres land held under the manor of Hedington, Oxon. Date: 1759.
not sure who this one is but he is a baker ...

Online Document PROB 11/634 Will of Richard Godfrey , Gentleman of Witney , Oxfordshire Date: 1729.
this one may be too late but he is a baker as well: Online Document IR 26/399 Will of Richard Godfrey , Baker of Headington, Oxfordshire . Proved in the Court of Oxford. Date: 1802.

the extent of registration [in the parish registers] was affected by a tax on births, marriages and deaths imposed between 1694 and 1706 and by a stamp suty on baptisims marriages and burials betwwen 1783 and 1794. these inevitably led to non-baptisim, the description fo dead people as paupers to avoid paymentand in the erlier period, to teh increased incidence of clandestibe marriages.
