Lesanne's Scavenger Hunt.. Part 6... Everyone welcome to join in.............
« on: Sunday 27 January 08 18:49 GMT (UK) »

Shocked  Shocked  Off we go on part 6....

So are the TURNERS of Bray connected to the Big 'ouse.

and the Norris/Norreys of Oxford..   Where from?  Roll Eyes  Roll Eyes

Amongst the last episodes of this saga are, Inventories from late 1600's, various family Wills.
It has been one mammoth, challenging hunt.......

But, it continues.. on into a now demolished Windmill, in the direction of Heddington and Forest Hill.
Did Henry Norris and Jane Godfrey move to Islip or their children. How many children did they have?

And who was Ralphey Norris of Henley / White Waltham. Is he part of this family?

There is no sign of Henry or Jane Norris or any siblings of William in Islip - the entires start with his marriage to Sarah and are all connected to them and their children

Grin Pulling things across.  Have you anything I should bring with us.... Grin  Grin oI'll pack a bag/trunk.......   Cheesy

From Islip - there are a few very early 1600s entries I will go back to when we need them.

marriage - by lic 1791
William Norice of Wood Eaton to Sarah Ash
witnessed James Ash & Thomas Tanner

They then had
1792 Elizabeth
1794 Henry
1796 John 1799 James
1801 William
1803 Joseph
1805 George
1808 Thomas
1811 Charles
1813 Richard (buried 1814)

burial 1836 of William Norris aged 72 and 1850 Sarah Norris aged 81

So we have a William Norris born abt 1764 and on their last child Richards baptism he is given as cordwainer

do we have a baptism for him?

There are some odd IGI entries (K131511) &  (J131511) both for Islip.

Susan Norrise 18/9/1634 D/o Henry
Graye Norris 31/12/1630  s/o Henry
Henry Noris 3/7/1608     s/o Henry

I have kept these for years as there is nothing after them.  Undecided

Have/has anything been found later for Islip itself, as a Village. Does the History change the Royal seat to Heddington perhaps, around 1640 - 1750.   hmmmm.

I wish   Cheesy

the best I can come up with right now is these burials from Headington

1757   Henry   NORRIS      Oxon   Headington, St Andrew
1760   Richard   NORRIS      Oxon   Headington, St Andrew
1767   Thomas   NORRIS      Oxon   Headington, St Andrew
1778   Anne   NORRIS   inf   Oxon   Headington, St Andrew
1788   John   NORRIS   24   Oxon   Headington, St Andrew
1811   Henry   NORRIS   54   Oxon   Headington, St Andrew
1824   Phobe   NORRIS   51   Oxon   Headington, St Andrew
1846   William   NORRIS   83   Oxon   Headington, St Andrew

That last one is very worrying - we now seem to ave two William Norris's born within a year of each other in nearby parishes

Undecided

Lesanne what about the birth of Eliz. Norris i found (with no parents)
only her and William are in the same batch at Forest Hill

Debbie I think that must be the William that is with Sarah Cooper in 1841.
I believe it to be Sarah his sister as I found a Sarah Norris married to Thomas Cooper.

Toni, That William in Forest Hill should be s/o Henry Norris and Jane.
Elizabeth 'sister'   Undecided
Jane, I presume is Jane Godfrey.

It seems RYCOTE entries are all submitted.
ooo drats,  Roll Eyes  not more Wills to sort them out.
Grin  Grin Would be so easy if they were the Rycote Norris's  Cool  Cool
