Passenger Lists Scotland to Ireland 1850's
« on: Sunday 27 January 08 19:13 UTC (UK) »

I am trying to source any info on my GGGgrandad's travel from Scotland to Ireland between 1851 and 1856.  His name was Adam Torbet (also spelt Turbett and Talbott).  Does anyone know if shipping passenger manifests exist for that period?

Bad luck, Rory, you won't find passenger lists between Ireland and Scotland. Ireland was part of the UK then, not that it mattered very much because you didn't need a passport or any kind of documentation even to travel between different countries until the time of WW1. Lots of people travelled back and forth between Scotland and Ireland, and the fares were very cheap, especially on the short crossing between Ulster and SW Scotland eg Larne to Stranraer.
