I have two brothers born at Cardington Beds, John SIMPSON born 1747, and younger brother Daniel, born 1756.

A very detailed census of Cardington taken on 1 Jan 1782 lists these two as being married and living in Esington (sic) - information supplied by their widowed mother, so looks reliable. The NBI shows burials in Essendon, Herts of John SIMPSON age 77 in 1825 and Daniel SIMPSON age 71 in 1826, which all fits pretty well with my Cardington brothers.  Also buried in Essendon were Mary SIMPSON age 58 in 1802 and Sarah SIMPSON age 77 in 1824. I'm guessing when I say that John & Sarah were a couple, and Mary belongs with Daniel.

I can't find marriages in Beds, nor in Essendon, which is on the IGI.

If someone could check Allen to see if there are any likely SIMPSON marriages between say 1765 and 1782 I'd be very grateful

There are no entries for Daniel SIMPSON during the period quoted.  There are, however, four for John viz   ...
      12Oct1767 St.Albans,St.Michaels  -  Elizabeth HUNT
      13Jun1773 Cheshunt  -  JS of London - Mary WRAGG
      21Jun1773 Bengeo  -  Sarah HARSON
      04Jan1774 Watford -  Ann DARNELL

Not quite the area required.
