Elizabeth SMITH mystery.
« on: Sunday 27 January 08 10:07 GMT (UK) »

I am really stuck with my g.g.g.grandmother Elizabeth SMITH, b. either 1826 , or 21 dec 1828 Stockport Cheshire. with father James, and possibly mother Harriet. She married Richard SCHOLEFIELD b. abt 1828 Chowbent Lancs. They had a number of children, all with very English names, yet the second was named Victorine Louisa, and several family members have indicated that her mother, Elizabeth, was French. I have asked about this before, but am hoping new rootschatters may read this and have some new ideas on how to solve the mystery.
Thank you,
Pauline

Presumably you have the 1849 marriage certificate, Pauline? Is there an occupation shown for James Smith?

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou - a big breakthrough if this is our Elizabeth, and I'm sure it is.   Smiley
I don't suppose her parents were listed were they? Guess it would be too much to hope for,
Thankyou again, I am so grateful.

Oh Alli - how marvelous. This could be my g.g.g.grandparents! (Mind you, it doesn't solve my so called "french connection")  Not to worry, I'm really happy with what you have found and thank you so much,
Warmest regards from a very warm Queensland, Australia
